Hello all! Special thanks to Darnee for inviting me to join her in the wide world of blogging! I am excited to share and talk about the wonderful profession of teaching. It's so underrated! Teachers are amazing! Every teacher I have met is unique, creative, and captivating in their own way.
Let me start by sharing a little about myself. I moved to Copperas Cove when I was 6 years old from El Paso, Texas. So I am a Texan all the way around, and love it. I've only been out of state to visit Disney land in Cali when I was 5 (I don't remember it ~_~), and one time when I was 18 to Georgia to visit my father's family.
I've taught second grade at Killeen since January 2010 with Darnee. This spring I was fortunate to have the opportunity to interview and was hired to teach in Copperas Cove for the upcoming school year. Since I was 6 years old, I've wanted to be teacher in Copperas Cove. The dream has come true, and I'm still teaching second grade. I found my niche with second graders, and I'm sticking to them! I have one year left in graduate school until I have my masters in Counseling. I hope to stretch my knowledge to the wide world of school counseling. This fall I start in a new district, and also start my internship at my home campus. What a wonderful year it will be!

Hi Everyone! Thanks for stopping by & checking out what we have to say here in our little corner of Central Texas.
First off I'm originally from New Orleans, born & raised. I didn't really understand/appreciate my hometown until I moved away. I miss it dearly, but I'm continuously amazed by the cool things I learn about my adopted home of Killeen, TX.
I was named after a tv alien princess, so frequent pop culture references will be made in my posts, be prepared. In 2001 I graduated from Louisiana State University, Geaux Tigers! I guess it goes without saying, but I'm going to anyway: I love football, especially the New Orleans Saints & LSU Tigers. I'm also a member of the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana, so I have a special place in my heart for all things Native related.
I've been teaching here in Texas going on 8 years; 1/2 a year as an instructional aide, 2 1/2 as a reading specialist & the rest as a 2nd grade teacher, all on the same campus. The past three years I've been the designated TAG teacher. I'm getting my master's in gifted, talented & creative education from Arkansas State University.
I started blogging personally about 10 years ago. I love the outlet it provides, but definitely having a group to share with who have similar interests helps in the focus that's for sure.
